Making eco-enzyme is simple, clean and odorless.

    1. Collect raw materials: The three primary raw materials used to make eco-enzyme are brown sugar, fruit peels (citrus or non-citrus), and water. They are prepare in the ratio of 1 :3 : 10 by weight.

    2. Prepare the container: Use a non-toxic plastic container (HDPE2) large enough to accommodate the raw materials and water, as the fermentation of eco-enzyme produces gas. Plastic containers allow for expansion, while glass containers may explode.
    3. Add water: Add 10 parts water to the container, filling it 60% to leave 20% airspace for sugar and fruit peels.
    4. Add sugar: Dissolve one part sugar in water.
    5. Add fruit peels: Add three parts fruit peels to the sugar water, gradually over a few days. There’s no need to collect all the fruit peels at once. Leave about 2-3 inches of space at the top of the container, and use peels of sweet fruits such as citrus, peach, guava, honeydew, etc. for best results.
    6. Cover and store: Seal the container with a screw-on lid, and store it in a shaded, ventilated area for a minimum of three months. During the first three weeks, slightly unscrew the lid to release gas.
    7. Strain and bottle: Once three months have passed, use a cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer to separate the liquid from the solid materials. Pour the liquid into clean bottles – mature eco-enzyme preserves itself and can be stored for at least three to six years in airtight containers. Use eco-enzyme as a natural cleaner, fertilizer, or insect repellent.
